Praying during the Pandemic

We invite you to pray during this COVID-19 pandemic. The Word of God tells us to not be anxious about anything, but rather pray (Philippians 4:6). We would like to have people take at least 15 minutes regularly to pray to the Lord during this time. Let's seek our Strong Deliverer to intervene and bring this pandemic to an end. Thank you for praying!

We have made a prayer guide available if you would like to use one during your prayer time. Many of the requests in the prayer guide were received from those working in the medical field, care facilities, and educational institutions. But please don't limit yourself to this prayer guide. Pray as the Spirit leads you. Click on the link to download.

COVID-19 Prayer Guide

Philippians 4:6-7 AMP

“6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].”

Pray for those directly affected by the illness:

“Gracious Father, we ask that you lay Your healing hand on those who are ill. Bring strength to their bodies and lungs. Give them and their families Your peace and help as they battle this illness.”

Pray for those medical workers battling the disease:

“Lord, we ask You to watch over the doctors, nurses and other medical staff caring for the ill and searching for treatments and vaccines. Protect them from contracting the illness and give them Divine wisdom and knowledge to effectively treat patients. Calm their anxieties and give them the courage they need to serve their patients well. May they demonstrate Your grace and peace as they care for others. Grant them the patience they need to handle the changes that develop. Thank You for their willingness to serve on the front lines against this virus.”

Pray for governmental leaders and the decisions they need to make:

“Father in Heaven, we ask that you bestow insight and direction on our national, state, and local leaders as they look to combat this pandemic. Human wisdom is not enough. They need Your perfect wisdom and direction. Guide our leaders so the decisions they make will be the best course of action.”

Pray for business owners and those who have lost jobs:

“Father, we ask that you provide for those who have lost their jobs and business owners who currently have to close because of this pandemic. You are the Great Provider and these people need Your help during this time. Meet their needs so bills can be paid, homes kept, and food provided for their families. May they find hope and strength in You in this time of uncertainty.”

Philippians 4:19  And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. ESV

Pray for those overseas that are unable to return right now:

Psalm 138:9-10  9If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me

Pray for the elderly and immune compromised:

Pray for long-term and assisted care facilities:

“Lord, please watch over Luther Memorial Home and other care facilities as they seek to protect the residents from this virus. Keep the residents and staff healthy during this pandemic. Strengthen the staff to carry out the increased workloads and calm their spirits in the midst of these tense times. Encourage the residents who are not able to see family and friends as they once were able to. Grant them hope and peace in the midst of these altered circumstances. Grant wisdom to the administration in day to day decisions as they seek to care for the staff and residents.”

Pray for school administrators, teachers and students.

“Father we ask that you help MPCG and other schools effectively implement their alternative education models. May the decisions made honor You and prepare the students for their future. Keep the staff healthy during this time so they can effectively guide and administer the new means of education. Give wisdom, insight, and peace to teachers as they navigate new methods of teaching apart from the classroom and their students. Watch over and protect the students as some may have minimal supervision at home. Help them see the importance of the schoolwork assigned to them and give their full effort to the work. Grant patience to all the staff, parents, and students in working through this new situation.”

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. ESV

Pray for law enforcement and emergency staff:

“Gracious Lord, please watch over our law enforcement and emergency staff as they still need to carry out their duties and serve our community as this pandemic crisis continues. and bring this pandemic to an end quickly!

“Heavenly Father, we need you in this time. Our resources are not enough. You Lord are our help and hope. The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever. Amen.
